ADDICTION SPECIALIST

As a former addict, I learned from experience what it is to have a mind that doesn’t work in your best interest. Having an addiction thought me that there are powerful subconscious mechanisms that will condition your behavior regardless of your set of values and belief systems. This is what makes us be the way we don’t want to be, this is what makes us hurt people we do not want to hurt and this is what makes us have a hard time in changing those things.

Often we think about therapy as if we have already lost the battle with our struggle. When it comes down to mental health, we perceive asking for help as a massive weakness. Furthermore, opening up to a stranger makes us feel negative emotions. However, we don't feel the same way when interacting with any other healthcare provider, like for example a physiotherapist or a urologist. For whatever reason, mental health is some taboo that we are not allowed to talk about, yet everyone is wrestling with it in one way or another. Attending psychotherapy is, in reality, something we all should do, as understanding one's thoughts and feelings constructively and positively can help reorganize our emotions and align ourselves to our best version.

Outstanding fact

Mental health is one of the most uncommonly understood conditions yet the most relevant for human experience.

The human mind is a fascinating topic. Human experience is a combination of our feelings, thoughts, and perceptions. The most relevant factor of human experience is its subjectivity, which shows us something profound and very useful to better our life, it shows us that we have the power within ourselves to allow different realities to exist. Think about this as being an optimist or a pessimist, both will live through the exact same event, yet one will see things opposite to the other. The key to having a good human experience relies upon having the ability to see the glass always full. In addiction this concept is fundamental, as our mind has taken control of our thoughts, emotions, and perceptions making us see only the glass is always half empty.

Keep this in mind.

Having a healthy mind allow us to truly navigate life in a rewarding and fulfilling way.

Having mental health imbalances can trim our potential to be the best version of ourselves.
